3.) Create new folder in your C: drive, and name it DFU. Extract the zip file to the location: c:\DFU
4.) Connect your iPhone but close iTunes when it launches after you connect your Apple device.
5.) Launch the program downloaded
Windows XP or later users:
goto start > run
type this: c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu
Windows Vista/ Windows 7 Users:
goto start and type "run" in the search box without quotes.
type this into the dialoge box: c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu
This should enter your iPhone into DFU mode! Easy right?
NEW METHOD (Try at your own risk!)
Here is what you need:
Original iPhone Firmware for your iPhone. ( download from : Here) Using the current firmware your phone is on would be wise.
A unarchiver or something of the sort. ( WINDOWS: WinZip, MAC: The Unarchiver )
Here is how to do it:
First make a copy of the Apple Firmware you downloaded.
Change the file extension of the file to ".zip" (without quotes)
Unarchive the folder.
Go to Firmware > all_flash
You will see 2 folders. (all_flash.m68ap.production and all_flash.n82ap.production)
In these folders you will have somewhat similar files.
Delete "LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3" in both the folders.
Rename the "applelogo.xxx.img3" files to "LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3" (replace the ** with the correct numbers. They are different for each folder.)
Now save everything and zip it back up. Rename the .zip back to .ipsw
Connect you iPhone or iDevice and go to itunes and (Mac: Hold option and click restore, Windows: Hold Shift and click restore) and choose the .ipsw you just modified.
As soon as iTunes is done restoring the firmware your iPhone or device will boot directly into DFU mode.
Now all you have to do is restore with a jailbroken ipsw file! (Use Pwnagetool to create a custom ipsw bundle)
and the folder holding the downloaded file will be there.
MAC USERS
Go under your HOME folder then /Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/
5.) Click Next after it has processed your firmware.
6.) Check the "Install Cydia" box. Nothing else needs to be checked.
7.) Click Next and it should tell you to plug your device in and turn it off WHILE it is plugged in.
8.) Click Next only after you are holding your phone in your hand. Then simply follow the directions given by Redsn0w.
Once your phone enters DFU mode, it will upload the jailbreak data and your phone will begin installing Cydia. After your phone restarts, you have a Jailbroken phone!!
Ok, so how does the BlackBerry PlayBook stack up to the iPad 2?
One of the first things off the bat is the dimensions.
iPad 2
Height: 9.50 inches (241.2 mm)
Width: 7.31 inches (185.7 mm)
Depth: 0.34 inch (8.8 mm)
Weight: 1.33 pounds (601 g)
Screen size: 9.7 inch
PlayBook
Height: 5.1 inches (130 mm)
Width: 7.6 inches (194 mm)
Depth: 0.4 inch (10 mm)
Weight: 0.9 pounds (425 g)
Screen size: 7 inch
This means the iPad 2 weighs more but still is thinner then the PlayBook. The difference in width of the devices is only .29 inches. This makes the iPad 2 wider, but you get a BIGGER screen! The only other difference here is the height. The iPad 2 is also longer, still making the screen BIGGER!
Next we have the techie stuff!
iPad 2
Screen Resolution: 1024 by 768
LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
1GHz dual-core Apple A5
512 MB of RAM
Back Camera: Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio; still camera with 5x digital zoom
Front Camera: Video recording, VGA up to 30 frames per second with audio; VGA-quality still camera
High resolution, WSVGA, capacitive screen with 4-finger multi-touch and gesture support
1 GHz dual-core processor
1 GB of RAM
Back Camera: 1080P Video with audio / 5 megapixels
Front Camera: 1080P Video with audio / 3 megapixels
8 Hour Battery
Apple Dock Connector
The iPad 2 does not hold up so well with these specs. The screen of the iPad 2 is hands down better then the PlayBook. It has a higher resolutions, it has better multi-touch technology in my opinion, and the screen is BIGGER! The processors of the two devices are going to be about the same, but the PlayBook has double the RAM of the iPad 2. The video recording is going to be much better on the PlayBook then the iPad 2. The only two things left are the battery and the connectors. The iPad 2 beats the PlayBook over battery life. The connectors on the PlayBook are universally accepted connectors, the one on the
iPad is Apples proprietary connector.
