NEW METHOD (Try at your own risk!)
Here is what you need:
- Original iPhone Firmware for your iPhone. ( download from : Here) Using the current firmware your phone is on would be wise.
- A unarchiver or something of the sort. ( WINDOWS: WinZip, MAC: The Unarchiver )
Here is how to do it:
- First make a copy of the Apple Firmware you downloaded.
- Change the file extension of the file to ".zip" (without quotes)
- Unarchive the folder.
- Go to Firmware > all_flash
- You will see 2 folders. (all_flash.m68ap.production and all_flash.n82ap.production)
- In these folders you will have somewhat similar files.
- Delete "LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3" in both the folders.
- Rename the "applelogo.xxx.img3" files to "LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3" (replace the ** with the correct numbers. They are different for each folder.)
- Now save everything and zip it back up. Rename the .zip back to .ipsw
- Connect you iPhone or iDevice and go to itunes and (Mac: Hold option and click restore, Windows: Hold Shift and click restore) and choose the .ipsw you just modified.
- As soon as iTunes is done restoring the firmware your iPhone or device will boot directly into DFU mode.
- Now all you have to do is restore with a jailbroken ipsw file! (Use Pwnagetool to create a custom ipsw bundle)
Thats it! I hope that works for you guys!

Hi i tried ths but it only opens the folder i extracted to...im a windows 7 user running iOS 4.3.3
After it opens the folder you extracted it to all you have to do is go to your C: drive and make a new folder called "dfu" Without quotes of course. and put everything in your extracted folder into this dfu folder you just made. Make sure you copy the contents of the extracted folder.. not the extracted folder itself. Make sense?

Try using http://blackra1n.com/. Download it and use it to put your phone into DFU mode.
Will this work for ios 4.3.3?? i mean blackrain?
Its possible, but if it doesn't you might have to end up replacing the power button. I hear its not too hard. Good luck! The software i wrote about works from some people, doesn't for others. I hope you get your problem resolved! Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you very much for your prompt replies. i was thinking if it is possible to manipulate itunes in a way to take advantage of when it puts iPhone into DFU then use Redsnow from then? What are your thoughts on this
ITunes actually never puts the phone into DFU mode. It puts your phone into recovery mode. Which is not as deep of a state as DFU. If your phone has been jailbroken before, without doing a genuine recovery you could have used recovery mode. I don't think that applies to you though.
Oh ok thanks for the info. I would appreciate it very much if you could tell me if there are any software out there that will jailbreak my 4.3.3 without DFU mode.. thanks so much :)
